Unified Algorithms

Learn the unified Algorithms listing page, its filter and status system, and the updated flows for creating custom algorithms

Netcore Unbxd's Recommendations ready-to-use built-in algorithms and your custom combinations lists every algorithm in one place Algorithms go live only when attached to an experience.

📘

Good to Know

  • Core and custom algorithms are merged into one list.
  • The Global Filter entry point moves onto this page as well.

Algorithm Listing Page

The Algorithms table has four columns:

  • Algorithm Name
  • Algorithm Type
  • Algorithm Status
  • No. Of Experiences

Algorithm Name

The name given to the algorithm. Netcore Unbxd's ready-to-use built-in algorithms use their standard names (for example, Cross sell, Complete The Look) and custom algorithms use the unique name you gave them when you built them.

Algorithm Type

Shows how the algorithm is built and whether it can be edited. Hover the header tooltip for a description of each type.

TypeMeaning
ConfigurableNetcore Unbxd's ready-to-use built-in algorithm that you set up manually before use—define its rules and settings to fit your business requirements. Cross-Sell and Complete the Look are the configurable algorithms.
CustomYour own build, either a variant of a single out-of-the-box algorithm, or a combination of up to three out-of-the-box algorithms.
Read OnlyNetcore Unbxd's ready-to-use built-inalgorithm that can't be edited. To apply filters or create variations, duplicate it as a custom algorithm.

Algorithm Status

Shows the algorithm's current state. Status reflects setup, not live traffic. Hover the header tooltip for a description of each status.

StatusMeaning
ActiveAttached to at least one experience. An algorithm stays Active even after its experience has ended.
In TrainingThe algorithm model is currently being trained. It will be ready to use once training completes.
UntrainedThe algorithm hasn't been trained yet. Contact your support team to get it trained before you can use it.
FailedTraining didn't complete successfully. Reach out to your support team to resolve and retrain.
UnusedCreated but not attached to any experience yet. Attach it to an experience to start serving recommendations on your live site.

No. Of Experiences

Shows how many experiences an algorithm is connected to. When the count is one or more, it appears as a link (for example, 1 Experiences). Click it to open the Experience page with a filter already applied for that algorithm, so you can see exactly where it is used. A dash - means the algorithm is not attached to any experience yet.

Algorithm vs Experience

Algorithm

Defines the recommendation rules that select, rank, and fill product recommendations.

Experience

Places an algorithm into a widget on a specific page, making recommendations visible to shoppers.

The Algorithm listing page has several other functionalities available. Refer to the table to below.

FunctionalityDescription
SearchFind algorithms by name, with results refined by any active filters.
FilterNarrow the algorithm list using multiple criteria such as type, status, page type, or creation date.
Activity HistoryView and export a log of recent algorithm-related activities and changes.
Manage Global FilterCreate and manage catalog-wide filtering rules that apply across all algorithms.
Create Custom AlgorithmBuild a new custom algorithm by combining and configuring existing algorithms.

Search

Click the search icon to find an algorithm by name across the full list. Search works together with the Filter panel, so you can search within a filtered set.

Filter

Click the filter icon to open a panel that slices the list by any combination of facets. Filters combine with search, and the button shows a count of the active filters. Use Reset Filters to clear all facets, or Apply Filters to apply your selection and close the panel.

FacetWhat it does
TypeSingle shows read-only and custom algorithms built from one algorithm. Hybrid shows custom algorithms built from a mix of algorithms.
Algorithm TypeFilters by how the algorithm is built and whether it can be edited.
StatusFilters by the algorithm's current state.
Page TypeShows only algorithms that can be applied to the selected page type (for example, Product page).
Created AtFilters by the date range in which the algorithm was created.

Activity History

Click the Activity History icon to open a log of recent actions on your algorithms. It records system actions and user interactions, showing the last 15 days by default, including who made the change, the entity affected, a description, and a timestamp.

You can export the log in .CSV format.

Manage Global Filter

Global filters refine the products in your catalog and apply across your algorithms. Rules are organised into Filter Groups:

  • Each group holds one or more Filter rules, each with an Attribute, an Operator and Values.
  • Rules within a group combine with AND, separate groups combine with OR.
  • You can add up to five filter groups. Once you reach the limit, the console shows Only 5 filter groups allowed. Remove some filter groups to add a new one.
  • Edit or delete a group with the icons on its header, then Save.
Remember
The behaviour of Global Filter remains unchanged. Only its entry point has moved to this page.

Create Custom Algorithms

Click Create Custom Algorithm to open the custom algorithm builder. See Create a custom algorithm.

Configure Algorithms

This section covers building a custom algorithm and configuring the two configurable algorithms, Cross-Sell and Complete the Look.

Cross Sell

Cross-Sell is a configurable core algorithm. It recommends complementary products by mapping a source (anchor) category to one or more associated categories.

To configure Cross-Sell:

  1. On the listing page, click Edit on the Cross-Sell algorithm.
  2. Review the existing rules. Each rule shows the source category with its full category path and its mapped categories. Mapped categories are capped at three per row—click View more to see the rest.
  3. To add a rule, click Create new rule:
    • Click Select category for the source and choose the category by its path. The path is fetched for you—you no longer select categories level by level.
    • Add mapped categories the same way. Select a category, click the + icon, and repeat to add more.
  4. Edit or delete any rule directly from its row.
  5. (Optional) Use Preview to check results. Select a product or a category to preview against. You can also enter a user ID.
  6. Save your changes.

Cross-Sell also supports Upload rules, Download rules, and Export rules for managing rules in bulk.

Complete the Look

Complete the Look is a configurable core algorithm. It pairs an anchor product with a set of companion products that complete an outfit or set.

To configure Complete the Look:

  1. On the listing page, click Edit on the Complete the Look algorithm.
  2. Review the existing rules. Each row shows the anchor product and its companion products. Scroll a row horizontally to see all of that row's companion products.
  3. To add a rule, click Create new rule:
    • Add the anchor product.
    • Select one or more companion products in a single action.
    • Click Create.
  4. Delete a rule from its row when you no longer need it.

The rules table shows a fixed 10 rows per page. Complete the Look also supports Export to email and Upload rules for managing rules in bulk, covered separately.

Troubleshooting

IssueWhat to do
An algorithm shows Untrained or FailedContact your CSM. Training is triggered by your Netcore Unbxd contact, not from the console.
A read-only algorithm can't be editedThis is expected. Duplicate it as a custom algorithm to apply filters or create variations.
A custom algorithm won't save after editingIt was likely created under the previous rules (for example, a hybrid fallback or more than three combined algorithms). Bring it in line with the current rules, then save.
A fallback product ID won't saveOnly products present in your feed can be added as Fallback Product IDs. Select the product from the feed rather than typing an ID.
