Q. Which rule types support inheritance?

A: Rule inheritance currently supports the following rule types in Search/Browse:

• Boost
• Filter
• Sort
• Pin
• Slot

Q. How does inheritance work when I create a child rule?

A: If you create a rule at a child category level, it overrides the inherited rule from the parent for that specific category. The parent rule still applies to other subcategories.

Q. What happens if a product is unavailable in a child category?

A: For pinning or slotting, inheritance applies only where the pinned or slotted products exist. If a product doesn’t exist in a child category, that rule will not apply.

Q. Can I select which child categories inherit the rule?

A: Not at this stage. Rule inheritance automatically applies to all subcategories. Selective inheritance (choosing specific child levels) will be introduced in future releases.

Q. Can I view where a rule is inherited or overridden?**

A: Yes. In website preview mode, you can view:

• All category paths where a rule is inherited.
• The levels where a rule has been manually overridden.

Q. Does this feature apply to Search as well?

A: No. Currently, rule inheritance applies only to Browse merchandising rules.
