Saved Search

Let shoppers save a search once and get notified automatically when a new or restocked product matches it.

Overview

Shoppers often abandon a search when nothing matches today, whether that's an out of stock item, a price that hasn't dropped yet, or a listing that hasn't been posted. Saved Search & Alerts brings that intent back: a shopper saves their search criteria once, and Unbxd continuously matches new and updated catalog items against it. When something matches, the shopper gets notified.

There are two parts to this capability.

  • What your team builds. The shopper facing experience, saving a search, managing alerts, and viewing matches, is built on your storefront using Unbxd's Saved Search Indexing API.
  • What comes built in. A Saved Search Analytics Dashboard is available directly in the Unbxd Console, with no additional integration needed beyond the base API integration.

What Shoppers Can Do

These experiences are built by your team on top of Unbxd's Saved Search Indexing API.

Save a search

A shopper can save the current query and any active filters, including keyword, category, price range, brand, attributes, geo or zip, condition, and date range, as a named saved search from the search results page.

Manage saved searches

From an account dashboard, shoppers can:

  • View all saved searches, with name, creation date, last run date, and alert status
  • Turn alerts on or off for each saved search
  • Choose an alert frequency: immediately, daily digest, or weekly digest
  • Edit the criteria of an existing saved search
  • Rerun a saved search to see current matches
  • Delete a saved search
  • View recent alert matches

Create a saved search from the account dashboard

Shoppers can also create a new saved search directly from their account, without visiting the search results page first, by specifying a vertical (such as classifieds, fashion, electronics, real estate, automotive, or jobs), keywords, category, location, price range, and any vertical specific attributes.

See the Saved Search Indexing API reference for how to integrate saving, updating, and matching claims.

What You Get in Unbxd Console

Saved Search Analytics Dashboard

Retailers can view, directly in Console:

  • Total active saved searches, broken down by vertical and alert status
  • Top saved queries, surfacing high demand keywords and filter combinations
  • Match rate, the percentage of new catalog additions that triggered at least one alert
💡

Important Point to Remember

Saved queries that shoppers keep creating but that rarely match anything point to a gap in your catalog. Use the analytics dashboard to spot high demand searches with a low match rate, and treat them as a signal for buying or sourcing decisions.

How Matching Works

At a high level:

  1. When you add a product or update one (price, stock status, a new variant), Unbxd checks it against every active saved search.
  2. Matches for saved searches set to "immediately" are sent right away. Daily and weekly digest matches are batched and sent on schedule.
  3. The same shopper won't be alerted twice for the same product within a single alert frequency window.

Saved Search Cleanup

To keep the system healthy, saved searches are removed automatically when any of the following is true:

  • The shopper hasn't logged in for 6 months or more, and alerts are disabled.
  • The saved search hasn't been modified for 6 months or more, and alerts are disabled.
  • The saved search has no criteria at all. These are removed regardless of age or login frequency.

Cleanup runs as a scheduled job during off peak hours.

FAQ

Do I need to build my own UI for saving and managing searches?
Yes. Unbxd provides the percolation matching engine and the API. Your team builds the shopper facing experience for saving, managing, and viewing saved searches on your storefront.

What alert frequencies are supported?
Immediately, daily digest, and weekly digest.

Will a shopper get alerted twice for the same match?
No. Matches are deduplicated for the same shopper and product within a given alert frequency window.

Why did a shopper's saved search disappear?
It was likely removed by the automatic cleanup job. See Saved Search Cleanup above for the conditions that trigger removal.
